Happy New Year to you all, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are all looking forward to a great year of showing in 2025!

By now, you may have had the chance to reflect on the GML announcement at the end of last year regarding the requirement for some adjustment to the format of the Hack final at HOYS.

Firstly, please let us assure you that for the 2025 season, in all qualifiers and at the RIHS and Nat Champs Supreme final, the format of the Hack class will remain unchanged.

The announcement from GML does however shine a light on the need to look at the format of the Hack class in the future, in order to protect the identity and longevity of the class. As we are all aware, entries in these classes have been on the wane in recent years, so it is important to examine every avenue in our efforts to rejuvenate them.

Potential changes could include combining the heights into one class, removing either the Ride Judge or Individual Show element – or indeed another great idea that none of us has come up with, but that one of you may have!

As such, we would welcome feedback on the above from our Members, it is important that any changes made in the future are done so with input from those who will be competing in the classes. What do you think might help to boost the popularity of the class? As a Hack competitor/ Producer/ Breeder/ Judge, what do you think the future of the class should look like?

Again, please rest assured that other than at the HOYS final, no changes will be immediate, and change isn’t necessarily guaranteed, but we do feel it will be useful to take some time to examine how we can boost the full potential and popularity of the Hack class, moving forward.
