At the recent board meeting in May, the board discussed numerous topics. Chairman Nigel Hollings was sad to announce the resignation of board member Miss Danielle Heath and thanked her for all her help over the last few years representing the Association. Topics of discussion included the upcoming National Championships show at Addington and also the Southern Spring Show, the Northern Spring Show, and finances. The board was happy to be informed that both shows made a profit this year and were well received by the membership. They wished to thank all those involved and sponsors for their kind generosity. Discussions were had regarding the BSHA stand at HOYS and how best to utilize its presence.

The two Vice-Chairs recently attended a Chairman’s Meeting of some of the societies and found it very interesting and informative. The biggest topic of conversation was how to deal with social media, its use by members, and its advantages and disadvantages, trying to find a way forward for everyone to adopt.

The board also discussed potential changes in the rulebook for 2024 for novice rules and how to implement them. Proposals were written for submission to the board and cross parties. The board was pleased to see that this year’s probationary judges had been receiving very welcoming reports from senior judges and shows that have been kind enough to take them this season, an indication of how the stricter criteria from the last assessment day stood up.

The office announced that horse registrations were up, and the board was pleased to hear the increase on 2022 new members and strong support from the hunter community towards the Association.
