LIHS 2023 Competitor Information & Dress Code

INFORMATION FOR ALL LIHS COMPETITORS FOR THE FINALS

 
Ian Smeeth and Vicky Smith are working hard on the clinics and some dates will start appearing very soon – its lovely they are being bombarded!!
 
A decision has been made regarding dress for the finals, we are sorry about the delay but we are trying to accommodate all the competitors and are mindful regarding costs.
We would love you to wear Evening Dress, however you will NOT be marked down if you wear tweed.
Guidance for Evening Wear – keeping it simple! Wear the appropriate hat for YOU and your safety at all times. The following guidance is exactly that, guidance, however good practice for everyone is to wear safety hats.
 

Cobs and Hunters

Top Hat or Hunting Caps, ladies navy/black jacket, men black jacket or scarlett jacket, fawn, buff, cream breeches (not white)
Well tied hunting stock with pin, gloves and hunting crop or cane, spurs to be worn, dummy or otherwise
 

Riding Horses

 
Top Hat for men and ladies, ladies navy/black jacket, men black jacket or black tails, fawn, buff, cream breeches (not white)
Well tied hunting stock with pin, gloves and showing cane, spurs to be worn, dummy or otherwise, discrete buttonhole may be worn.
 

Hacks

Top Hat for men and ladies, ladies navy/black jacket, men black jacket or black tails, fawn, buff, cream breeches (not white) – TRADITIONALLY for men on a hack they would wear black tails with close fitting military trousers with collar and tie or cravat, this is not necessary unless you are lucky enough to be loaned a set of clothing for your class
Well tied hunting stock with pin, gloves and showing cane, spurs to be worn, dummy or otherwise, discrete buttonhole may be worn
Racehorse to Show Horse
Same as for the riding horses and hacks, however larger National Hunt type horses can wear same as the cobs/hunter.
 

Working Show Horse / Working Hunter

During these classes you will wear your normal working hunter day wear. If you are in the appropriate championship then Evening Wear as per the Cobs and Hunters will be worn.
 

Ladies Side Saddle

Silk hat with veil, blue or blak habits are required with a well ties hunting stock and pin, one spur to be worn only, showing cane and discrete buttonhole.
 
Long boots for everyone, it is permissible to wear brown boots in cob and hunter classes.
 
PLEASE DO ADHERE TO THE NO EARRINGS, PIERCINGS OR VISIBLE JEWELLERY SHOULD BE WORN
