The British Show Horse Association would like to extend our most sincere condolences on the very sad passing of Caroline Nelson. 

Caroline was a stalwart of the equestrian community, her extensive knowledge and expertise was widely sought after, be it judging, producing or through her many years as a valuable member of the JMB.

Caroline produced many Champions under saddle both in the Arab and Hack classes over many years, she was a master of her craft and was noted for her horses correct way of going. One of the highlights of her showing career came in 1973, when she won the HOYS Small Hack of the Year at Wembley and finished reserve champion to large winner Right Royal, on the home-produced and home-bred Miss McGredy, by her family’s stallion McGredy.

Lately, Caroline’s passion besides her equestrian interests, were for her beloved Suffolk Sheep, showing them at many County Shows both far and wide, gaining many accolades. 

Caroline was a fiercely loyal friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

A Memorial and Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday March 1st 2025 at 12.30 pm, at The Stareton Room, Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth  CV8 2LG.      

There is also a separate event for her Scottish friends to be held in her memory, kindly arranged by The Border Union Show and Society at Kelso and this will be on 11th February 12.30 pm to be held at The Showground, Springwood Park, Kelso TD5 8LS
