Statement from the BSHA Chairman

Dear Member;

On behalf of the Association I hope you, your family and loved ones are in good health during these difficult, unprecedented and worrying times. This crisis will be over one day but until then it is so important that we follow the Government guidelines and stay safe. We are so lucky in this country to have the NHS and the staff who day after day risk their own lives to save ours.

It was my 60th Birthday on April 17th and although I was unable to celebrate with my whole family and friends, I find it amazing how technology plays such a big part in how we can communicate with each other, allowing us to continue to some extent with our everyday lives.

On behalf of the Board of Directors I am pleased to give you an update regarding the activities of the Association. We are continuing to plan for the future and will publish regular news.

The Board has met 4 times to date via Video Conference Call and these meetings have been productive and could be the way forward in the future. It is hoped we can have weekly meetings every Thursday or whenever necessary.

As many of you are aware our General Secretary, Charles Wilkerson, left us on 25th April and on behalf of every Member I would like to thank him for the past 9 years. In that time we have seen unprecedented growth within the Association and Charles has played no small part in this success. We all wish him well for the future.

Tracey has now been furloughed, Phillipa is taking a break and Pam will continue with “Book Keeping” duties once a week. Our phone will be manned three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for two hours each of those days between the hours of 10am to 12noon with e mails answered as soon as possible.

The Board has appointed the following “Heads of Departments” who are progressing with policies already agreed.

The New BSHA Dope Testing Policy – Nick Thompson and Lucy Savill.

BSHA Judges – Sue Rawding

Business Ethics, Excellence in Governance, Risk and Audit Policies, BSHA Business and Finance Planning – Jane Scriven and Jane Hall

 BSHA National Championships plus BSHA Regional Shows – Lucy Savill, Simon Somers and Sarah Carey

Administration and Staff Liaison – Ian Darcy

RIHS and HOYS – David Ingle and Sue Phillips

Members’ Liaison – Sue Phillips, Danielle Heath and Julian Quiney.

Communications, Press Statements and P.R. – Nigel Hollings and Lucy Savill assisted by Harriet Scriven.

Furthermore, myself and other Board Members are more than happy to discuss anything with you - so feel free to e mail or pick up the phone.
